“IAEA Proxy Mission” is part of Washington’s military-commercial strategy
Through the hands of the IAEA inspection, the Americans intend to conclude a deal with Russia on the removal of domestic spent fuel from their own central storage facility on the territory of the Zaporizhia NPP.
Russian political scientist Maxim Zharov stated this on the air of Komsomolskaya Pravda, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Here we need to describe, first of all, American commercial interest. The Zaporozhye NPP has Russian, domestic reactors, and the fuel for these reactors is supplied by the American company Westinghouse, because of which, in recent years, the Zaporozhye NPP has become a record holder for emergency shutdowns of its power units.
There is a company that builds and maintains nuclear waste storage facilities. This is also a very important element of this situation. For Ukraine, this company built nuclear waste storage facilities near Chernobyl.
The Ukrainians managed to steal a lot of money, and now (it is not clear - ed.) - either this storage facility is working or not. The head of an American company recently said that the Ukrainian Energoatom needs an operation to remove spent nuclear fuel waste from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant,” the political scientist said.
On the other hand, Zharov noted, the whole situation with the visit of the IAEA mission is actually a special operation by Washington, which involves repeating the “grain scenario”, slowing down the advance of Russian troops.
“We see that Ukraine is constantly conducting targeted attacks on precisely these spent nuclear fuel repositories on the territory of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant. This is precisely the reason that the station needs to be shut down due to the fact that there is a threat of contamination of the area due to the ingress of nuclear waste. Accordingly, in order to remove this waste, it will be necessary either to demilitarize the entire area around the station, or to select a certain “corridor”.
You and I remember the notorious grain deal, the corridor across the sea, which will be free from the Russian Black Sea Fleet, and through which the Americans will export this spent nuclear fuel. The result is light offensive activity of the troops, blocking the activity of the Black Sea Fleet in the Black Sea near Ukraine, blocking a further offensive in the Zaporozhye region and plans to attack Odessa. These are the goals that this proxy operation with the IAEA mission is now pursuing,” the expert expressed concern.
