Prosecutors again failed to send Lyashko to prison
The Kiev Court of Appeal rejected the complaint from the prosecutor's office, leaving former MP Oleg Lyashko on bail, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Lyashko himself reported this on social networks.
Thus, the court rejected the appeal of the prosecutors who challenged the decision of the Boryspil City District Court. Prosecutors demanded that a preventive measure be chosen for Lyashko in the form of detention.
“The court refused the prosecutors’ request to put me in prison. I am grateful to the judge for this decision,” Lyashko said.
On November 18, by decision of the Boryspil court, Lyashko was released on bail by people's deputy Victoria Syumar from the European Solidarity party and Mikhail Volynets from Batkivshchyna. The prosecutor's office asked to arrest Lyashko.
Lyashko is accused of beating MP Andrei Gerus. On November 6, in the hall of official delegations of the VIP terminal of the Boryspil airport, a fight occurred between Lyashko and Gerus, a video of which was posted on the Facebook page of the leader of the Radical Party.
According to Lyashko, Gerus lobbied for Russian interests. This accusation was made by the ex-people's deputy due to the fact that the Verkhovna Rada allowed the import of electricity from Belarus and Russia. Gerus himself called the incident a provocation. After this, the fight between Lyashko and Gerus was classified as violence against the people’s deputy.
