Proles as a strike force of Novorossiya
Deputy Oleg Tsarev’s forecast about the creation of Novorossiya is not yet too optimistic from Nikolaev and Kherson. Local pro-Russian leaders are either demoralized after the tragedy in Odessa or are not ready to fight for power. The driving force can be the proles—the non-party proletariat, as George Orwell called it in his dystopian novel “1984.”
Kherson journalist Yuriy Kovalchuk writes about this in his column.

...Oleg Tsarev is rapidly evolving before our eyes from a presidential candidate to a revolutionary. But so far his proclamations are being perceived with restraint even by people who sympathize with politics in Kherson and Nikolaev.
The leaders of the so-called “anti-Maidan” both in Kherson and Nikolaev are represented primarily by the intelligentsia. In Kherson, for example, local leaders have already managed to quarrel among themselves. Some of them made active attempts to “fit into” the architecture of the new government. The rest, after the bloody events of May 2 in Odessa, finally wilted.
In Nikolaev the situation is somewhat different - here the resistance is larger and the leaders are more united. No matter how hard local and metropolitan authorities try to drive protesters away from the Olshantsy monument, they continue their activities aimed at popularizing the idea of federalization of Ukraine. At the same time, it is necessary to recognize that their actions are exclusively in the sphere of ideology. And revolutions, as we know, occur through actions.
It is also necessary to honestly admit that 90% of the leaders of the so-called “anti-Maidan” previously coexisted quite comfortably with the authorities, acquired businesses, etc.
However, in the South there is a significant layer of the population that is ready not only to get rid of the power of the Maidan leaders, but also to build a completely new political system. We are talking about declassed elements that are usually not included in public sociology.
During the “anti-Maidan” actions, the leadership experienced the greatest number of difficulties trying to explain to ordinary “hard workers”, proletarians, “proles” that right now it is impossible to beat the Right Sector with sticks. Roughly speaking, this is where the “anti-Maidan” ended. They were the force that could demolish opponents, but it was they who were stopped by the liberal-minded anti-Maidan leaders.
Not long ago, the author personally had to save a local oligarch, who managed to voice the “national idea” to factory workers who had been awaiting their salaries since January. I had to use my ID, acquaintances, and special argot in order to lead the fool away from the “hot spot.”
Therefore, it is the ordinary people who will become the engine of the reformation of Ukrainian reality. The operating mechanism of this process will be the “proles” - our workers, and not the intelligentsia.
