Russian industry begins Arctic breakthrough
Russian mechanical engineering is gradually coping with the challenges of Western sanctions. Moreover, the Arctic development program promotes the production of products that have no analogues in the world - capable of working in the harsh conditions of the Far North.
Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Dmitry Artyukhov stated this at a forum in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“...Maximum localization... Yamal projects, which yesterday were largely based on imported technologies, imported equipment, today are future projects, but we have understood how to do this, somewhere with the help of our foreign partners.
On the issue of cooperation, it existed, it was successful, and even all the sanctions and crises did not prevent it, we see that everything has been implemented. But we have learned, it’s time to do it ourselves, and we see how today in Nizhny Novgorod, in Stavropol, local machine builders, local manufacturers produce products that will be unique, they will be able to work in difficult climatic conditions. And future projects are already using Russian equipment at the design stage.
This is the best effect that the Arctic can give, because everything that is done in the Arctic is unique. As a rule, such technologies either do not exist in the world, or they need to be improved,” said Artyukhov
He announced a major project in the gas chemical industry, “which will be one of the largest in the second half of this decade.”
“I think it will take several years for pre-design work and, starting from the 25th, it will be possible to begin; this will be a fundamentally new round in the development of the Arctic. According to various estimates, this is from 3 to 5 trillion rubles of investment. Can you imagine what effect this can have for the domestic industry, if at least more than half of this amount is, and we set the bar, 70-80% of the equipment will be localized in Russia! These are trillions of rubles. Of course, these are new specialists, this is an order in the education system, these are very large effects,” the governor promised.
