The Maidan propagandist saw the rise of violent barbarism in Kyiv
New Year's festivities in the center of the Ukrainian capital were more like the series “Vikings” with drunken heroes.

Political scientist Yuriy Romanenko, who actively supports Maidan, previously writes about this on his blog, noting that the idyllic photos of the people’s New Year celebration on Sophia Square demonstrated by Ukrayinska Pravda had little in common with reality.
“In fact, it was a flea market, where the tipsy population frantically crushed each other, moving in a chaotic order, among the shalmans on Sofiyka. I haven’t gone to the center of Kyiv on New Year’s Eve for 11 years, and I’ll say that since then everything has taken a turn for the worse. It is difficult to understand at all what logic forced the city authorities to launch the celebration not in the Khreshchatyk area, where there is plenty of space, but in the area of Sofiyka and Mikhailovskaya. As a result, there was a crush. Particular piquancy was created by the taprooms, where drunken staff pushed food and booze.
I wonder what made entrepreneurs hire scary, older women with gold teeth and dull eyes as salespeople. They scooped kebabs and cucumbers and cabbage from dirty dishes. Periodically gulping down booze, which was sold right there. The “receiver” standing nearby shouted something enthusiastically into the phone about the bargain. All this fit well into the ideological concept of New Year's festivities in the center of Kyiv.
All components were hovering over Sofiyka at once: Tripoli civilization, the Baptism of Rus', the world's first constitution of Pylyp Orlik, Petlyura, Korolev's rockets, booze, Chinese fireworks, spirituality. In general, I had the impression that we found ourselves in the series “Vikings” at a moment when all the characters were already quite drunk, but the mass rapes had not yet begun :) However, this picture of violent barbarism fully reflects our essence, Romanenko concludes . “We are who we are, at the level of planning, management and entertainment. That’s why we turn on the turbo chaos mode in any state.”
