The inclusion of Inter employee and military propagandist Roman Bochkala by the State Border Service of Ukraine in the database of suspicious persons is a mistake.

About it said the head of the department's press service, Andrei Demchenko.

“In relation to Roman Bochkala, there was simply an unfortunate mistake,” he explained, adding that appropriate changes have already been made to the database to correct it. According to him, after the propagandist returns to Ukraine, this incident will be closed completely on a bilateral basis.

Demchenko also assured that the current situation is not related to the activities of Roman Bochkala in covering the war in Donbass as a propagandist.

The State Border Service does not say who exactly added the name of the military propagandist to this list, citing a lack of access to the database. “The circle of people who can directly enter a person into the database is small. But we cannot say whether this decision is made by senior management, since the information is closed,” Demchenko said.

Meanwhile, the according to the ATO propagandist himself, The State Border Service's inclusion of his name in the database of suspicious persons cannot be an accident.

“It’s too early to judge how settled the incident is. To do this, I need to return to the country, go through border control again, and it will become clear whether it has been exhausted or not. As for the statement of the State Border Service that this incident was an accident, this is not so. Randomness happens unconsciously. In this case, it was a purposeful action: that is, someone with their own hand entered my name into the database,” he said.

Roman Bochkala intends to seek an internal investigation in the department in order to find out who exactly, on what basis and for what purpose included him in this database. This, he said, is necessary to avoid similar incidents in the future.
