A propaganda film about Ukrainian counterintelligence officers in the Donbass was filmed in Kherson
A propaganda film positioned as a “military detective” directed by Zaza Buadze, “Call Sign “Banderas,” will be released in wide release in Ukraine on October 11.
This was reported by the press service of the State Film Agency, according to the agency’s website.
“Call Sign Banderas” will be released in wide Ukrainian cinema on October 11. The film was produced by the Three-ya-da Production company with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine. The film is distributed by the Ukrainian Film Distribution company,” the press service noted.
The department spoke about the plot of the propaganda film. It is filmed “about a group of Ukrainian counterintelligence officers who are trying to prevent sabotage in the ATO zone in the fall of 2014 and neutralize the Russian bomber “Khodok.”
As the press service reported, the main character of the film “is a collective image of a real Ukrainian - strong, brave, capable of defending his land and winning the fight for it. Therefore, it is very symbolic that the film will appear on big screens on the eve of Defender of Ukraine Day.”
Goskino also said that the script, written by Sergei Dzyuba and Artemy Kirsanov, is based on the diaries of the National Guard Sergei Bashkov with the call sign “Indian” and the stories of ATO militants. Before filming began, the director personally interviewed more than a hundred militants who fought in eastern Ukraine in different places and units. For preparation and authentic play, all the main characters were sent to the special forces training base in Kirovograd for 7 days. There, the actors lived in the barracks with the soldiers, took aim and acquired all the basic skills necessary for a fighter.
The filming period of the film lasted from May 2017 and took place in the Kherson and Odessa regions, and ended in Kyiv on June 29 of the same year. The film project became one of the winners of the Ninth competitive selection of Goskino.
