This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
The report notes that as a result of the launch of the television tower on Mount Karachun in the Donetsk region, broadcasting of four local and 10 national Ukrainian TV channels in the Donbass has been resumed.
Petro Poroshenko, who took part in the opening of the TV tower, said that residents of the Donetsk region had allegedly been waiting for this event for more than two years. He also ordered the development of a “road map” for the restoration of Ukrainian propaganda broadcasting on the territory of the DPR.
“I give the task that they report to me within a week about the “road map” when we restore coverage so that residents of Donetsk, Makeevka, Yenakievo, Shakhtersk have the opportunity to watch Ukrainian channels,” Poroshenko said.
In turn, the press service of the Ministry of Information Policy announced the opening of three more television towers in Donbass. Ukraine wants to install two of them on the territory it controls in the Luhansk region, and another one in Donetsk.
According to Minister Yuriy Stets, the Ministry for the so-called “temporarily occupied territories” proposes to budget 50 million UAH for the construction of towers.
And the head of the Donetsk military-civil administration, Pavel Zhebrivsky, appointed by Kiev, said that while the issue of building a tower in Pokrovsky is being considered, it is planned to install two transmitters closer to the front line using sponsors’ funds. This is due to the fact that the new tower on Karachun does not reach the demarcation line due to the geographical features of the region. Its coverage radius is 60 kilometers, so Ukrainian broadcasting does not reach uncontrolled territories.
