“How would you answer the question about the situation of the Crimean Tatars today in Crimea? For example, about cases of kidnapping,” Aksenov was asked by the RG editorial office.
“I heard this question asked by Nikolai Svanidze to the president of the country at a meeting of the council for the development of civil society and human rights,” Aksenov nodded. – Firstly, there were no mass cases of abduction of Tatars. Four people are listed as missing. One guy fought in Syria and died there, the second missing guy was also a man who fought in Syria. I met with their parents, with representatives of the Crimean Tatars. The Investigative Committee took control of the case and created a working group. These people themselves are ready to give a press conference to refute rumors of mass disappearances.”
“We invite Nikolai Svanidze to Crimea to answer all his questions,” Aksenov said. “I’m ready to organize a meeting for him with his parents and representatives of public organizations.” The authorities are doing everything possible to make the Crimean Tatars and all Muslims feel safe and comfortable.”
According to the Crimean Prime Minister, “in all government bodies today, at least at the deputy level, there are representatives of public organizations of the Crimean Tatars.”
“Yesterday, the mufti and I met all the imams of Russia, 30 people,” Aksenov also noted. – The day before yesterday, pilgrims, Crimean Muslims who went on Hajj, returned to Crimea, their homeland. We sent some people for free, and for extra-budgetary funds. The climb is huge. They say they were never treated this way. We have excellent relations with the muftiate.”
