“Parliament is considering four bills concerning local deputies from banned parties. The Cabinet of Ministers proposes to deprive them of their mandates. Three other bills propose dissolving the factions of these parties without depriving them of mandates, if there have already been or may be court decisions to ban the party,” the publication notes.

It is noteworthy that two such bills were submitted by deputies elected from the considered pro-Russian and now banned OPZZH (the faction has now been renamed PZZHM - Platform for Peace and Order).

“At the same time, neither the Cabinet of Ministers nor parliamentarians have yet publicly discussed initiatives to revoke the mandates of people’s deputies from the pro-Russian project OPZH. This could only be done by amending the Constitution, which cannot be changed during martial law.

But “servants of the people” are already taking advantage of this situation. The voices of those elected from the OPZZH help the authorities make decisions. The party in power is already talking publicly about “constructive cooperation,” the article says.

“But deprivation of mandates will not solve the problem. It is critically important for society that collaborators and traitors cannot become deputies or hold government positions in the future. The best option is court decisions. Ensuring the quality work of the law enforcement and judicial systems is much more difficult than simply depriving collaborators and traitors of their mandates. Moreover, when this concerns only local councils and does not yet concern parliament,” the authors summarize.
