Trump's pro-Russian rhetoric turns into anti-Russian policy
The results of the upcoming US presidential elections will not change Washington’s anti-Russian course.
This opinion, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports, is expressed by the director of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Garbuzov, whose words are quoted by Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“The United States has set a course to contain Russia. The main tool is sanctions policy. And again, I don’t think that the outcome of the elections will affect such a policy. Because for all these years in the United States, the bipartisan consensus is a Republican-Democratic anti-Russian consensus. On many issues the two parties argue with each other until they are hoarse, but on Russian issues they do not. Here they found a common language,” the expert noted.
He also drew attention to the uniqueness of the current US President.
“Trump is a unique president in relation to Russia. This is a president with pro-Russian rhetoric, but with a clearly expressed anti-Russian policy. There is no such example to be found in the past. But the specifics of our life are such that we are faced with such a president. Both such foreign policy behavior and such rhetoric - all this gave rise to some illusions among the Russian political elites. I hope that by now they have dissipated and a more realistic view of Trump has formed,” Garbuzov concluded.
Let us remind you that in the upcoming elections the fight will unfold between the current President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joseph Biden.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv experts admitted that neither Trump nor Biden they are not going to fight for Ukraine.
