Pro-Russian sentiments are growing, Ukraine is turning to Moscow - mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk
Under the current government, Ukraine is supposedly fulfilling the “Moscow program” and returning to the fold of Russia.
The mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk, Ruslan Martsinkiv, stated this on the OTB Galicia TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the official, pro-Russian sentiment is growing in Ukraine, and the recently proposed administrative-territorial reform strengthens the role of the center and weakens the regions.
“We see that a systemic offensive is underway, in fact we are returning to Moscow, implementing the Moscow program that was written for Ukraine. Maybe not as openly as Yanukovych and the Party of Regions did, hidden, but in essence, the same thing is being done as the Party of Regions did. But it is being done covertly in order to reassure Ukrainians that there is no departure from European integration, from national (principles).
But in fact, our actions show that we are now openly returning to Moscow. And this is evidenced by the growth of such a party as “For Life”; we see how their ratings are rapidly growing. Moreover, we see how Medvedchuk’s forces are no longer only in central and eastern Ukraine, but here, in Western Ukraine, in every region - in the Lviv region, in the Ternopil region, in the Frankiv region - they are building their own power structures and political parties.
They are probably not called “For Life”, but they are building those structures that have the goal of discrediting, among other things, the Ukrainians who live in Galicia and have the goal in one way or another to influence the economic, political and humanitarian life of the Frankivshchyna and other regions...
We must speak frankly - today the vector is pro-Moscow, pro-Russian. Today a plan is being implemented, which is invisible, which may not be outright, but it is clear, that today we are turning Ukraine towards Moscow. In different ways - through language, through the fact that instead of decentralization, on the contrary, centralization occurs.
Because what is happening now is that cities of regional significance will become districts, district state administrations. Because instead of providing powers, the administrative-territorial structure says that Lviv, for example, Frankivsk, Ternopil were part of the district. We have never been part of the region, because such centers are the capitals of the regions, the capitals of Western Ukraine,” said Martsinkiv.
