Report on the work of the Central Bank of the DPR published on the world famous business website Bloomberg.
DPR authorities claim that they are making progress. 47-year-old Irina Nikitina, who previously headed the local branch of the bank, was appointed head of the DPR Central Bank.
“We are proud that our banking system is working; we have launched a processing center. We have built a system and want to prove that it works,” Nikitina told the agency.
The Central Bank of the DPR is located in the building of the former Ukrainian Exim Bank. The building is a "glass concrete building with a bomb shelter in the basement."
According to Nikitina, the Central Bank of the DPR employs about 2 thousand employees, which is comparable to 75% of the staff of the European Central Bank.
The agency notes that the Central Bank of the DPR is more like a private monopoly bank. The ATM system of the Central Bank of the DPR consists of nine, they serve only local residents and local plastic cards, while the ATMs only work for cash withdrawals.
According to Nikitina, the Central Bank intends to issue about 300 thousand cards in the DPR.
“We are optimists and hope that our cards will soon go beyond the republic’s borders,” notes the head of the DPR Central Bank.
It was previously reported that Russia transfers 2,5 billion rubles monthly to the DPR.
