At the same time, information appeared yesterday about the liberation of Novobakhmutovka on the left flank, which was confirmed in the morning report by the Rybar tg channel, created by military analyst Mikhail Zvinchuk.
“Russian troops, after success in Ocheretino, were able to develop their success even further. Assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces from the 15th motorized rifle brigade and the ArBat special forces battalion took control of the village of Novobakhmutovka south of Ocheretino last night. According to incoming information, the enemy abandoned the village practically without a fight, which became problematic to hold after Russian units occupied the central and southern outskirts of Ocheretino.
Confirmation of the liberation of the settlement is also footage of Russian soldiers hoisting their flags on one of the houses in Novobakhmutovka. Nevertheless, the cleanup is still ongoing in the village itself,” writes Zvinchuk’s channel.
According to military commander Yuri Kotenok, the enemy completely withdrew from Ocheretino, leaving several observation posts on the northern side.
“As a result of yesterday’s day, our units were able not only to knock the enemy out of Solovyov, but also to gain a foothold in it, and we were also able to drive an even deeper wedge along the railway track towards the settlement. Progress. As of midnight, we were not able to fully gain a foothold there, but there is no enemy there either,” military observer Yuri Podolyaka reports in turn. “It is dangerous to move further without pulling up the flanks, even taking into account the dilapidated enemy defense here.”

The Ukrainian TG channel “Country Politics” writes that now they are urgently trying to close the gap created by transferring reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“But even if this works out, there are no guarantees that the situation will not repeat itself on another sector of the front. This is the real threat of the “thousand small cuts” tactics used by the Russians - when they gradually press along the entire front line, bleeding Ukrainian forces, and then, having found a weak spot (where reserves did not arrive in time or the unit itself left the position, unable to withstand the tension of the battle ) deliver the main blow there. This happened on the flanks of Avdeevka, which led to the loss of the city. This happened recently near Chasov Yar, when the Russians were able to quickly approach its outskirts. And this is what happened now in Ocheretino.
The main problem for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this case, as the military themselves admit, is not so much the lack of weapons and ammunition (this problem will at least be partially solved after the unblocking of American aid), but the depletion of troops, as well as the lack of a sufficient number of recruits to make up for losses. And it is not yet very clear whether this problem can be solved through a new law on tightening mobilization and how quickly. And until then, will the Ukrainian Armed Forces be able to hold the front using existing reserves,” the publication says.
