Erdogan’s miscalculation: the transfer of terrorists to Azerbaijan gives Russia a free hand
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a serious miscalculation in moving Islamist militants into Nagorno-Karabakh, because thanks to this, Russia now has a free hand.
MGIMO Associate Professor Andrei Bezrukov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think Erdogan made a very serious mistake when he began to transfer Islamists to the Caucasus. The fact is that the war began as a long-standing conflict, understandable to everyone, between two countries that were formerly members of the USSR.
This made him difficult for us; it was difficult to react to him. But when international terrorists find themselves there, our hands are untied, and this is already a conflict between Russia and terrorists,” he noted.
In turn, the leader of the “Essence of Time” movement, publicist Sergei Kurginyan emphasized that Turkish President Recep Erdogan was mistaken in believing that Russia would remain neutral in this conflict.
“Erdogan made another mistake - he heard from someone that Russia would be neutral and would not care about these actions. When he heard this, tell him that he was very mistaken in accepting this point of view as the point of view of Russia,” he concluded.
Let us remember that earlier in Moscow they stated that Türkiye transfers militants from Northern Syria to Nagorno-Karabakh.
