The Krasnodar Territory remains the most popular tourist region in Russia, but Crimea was able to sharply increase its indicators thanks to the commissioning of the road part of the bridge across the Kerch Strait.

The executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, Maya Lomidze, stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The most popular destination in terms of the number of tourists is the Krasnodar Territory. He simply breaks all records. This year, according to preliminary information for the first half of the year (which does not even include the high season), more than seven million tourists went there. Based on the results of the season, we can talk about approximately the same number at all resorts in the Krasnodar Territory,” she said.

The increase in the number of vacationers in the region is approximately estimated at 15%, and for some tour operators - more than 25% compared to last year, which indicates an extremely high demand for resorts this season.

The picture is approximately the same in Crimea.

“The dynamics there are a little different, somewhere around 10%, but we can say that the tour operator segment, the organized segment, for the first time in the last few years has significantly increased its share in the total flow of tourists to Crimea. Now the share of tour operators is about 20-22%, in contrast to 10-15% last year.

That is, we see an increase due to the organized segment and thanks to the Kerch Bridge, which allowed a huge number of people to simply travel by car.

Just yesterday or the day before yesterday the record was broken for the passage of motorists across the Crimean Bridge, for the number of tourists who used this transport artery,” said Maya Lomidze.

According to tour operators, by the end of the year about 17 million tourists will visit the Krasnodar region (compared to 16 million last year).

“As for Crimea, I think that this year there will be a record number of visitors to Crimea. According to our preliminary estimates, more than six and a half million,” added Maya Lomidze.

“When there was no road traffic, ferries and air traffic imposed certain restrictions, it was difficult with maneuverability. Now that the Crimean Bridge has opened, new opportunities have emerged for travel companies. A very flexible pricing policy has appeared, which allows you to load even not very popular dates... And due to this, an increase in the flow to Crimea has been ensured,” she added.
