Vladimir Putin, via videoconference, launched gas supplies to the Crimean Peninsula via the new main gas pipeline “Krasnodar Territory - Crimea”. The official website of the Kremlin reports this.

“This is another very important decision for the long-term development of Crimea. I mean that the supply of Russian main gas to the Crimean peninsula will allow us to create a completely new situation in terms of the development of the entire economic complex, the recreational complex, and the development of the social sphere in Crimea and Sevastopol,” Putin said.
He added that based on the gas supplied to Crimea, two power plants with a capacity of 2017 megawatts each will be built on the peninsula in 2018-470, which will cover the peninsula’s current electricity needs.
Also, according to the president, in four years 70 kilometers of main gas pipelines and 2,5 thousand kilometers of inter-settlement gas pipelines and 8 gas pumping stations should be built and reconstructed in Crimea.
The total length of the gas pipeline is 358,7 km, including a two-line crossing through Lake Tuzla and the Kerch Strait, as well as a gas pipeline branch to Simferopol with a length of 27,3 km.
