“Farewell, crests!” – Klitschko will mistakenly immortalize the author of the famous lines
On the site of the famous monument to Lenin, destroyed by the Maidan protesters, the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko plans to install a bust of Brodsky, but a little different than what Ukrainian patriots expected.
The former head of the Ukrainian Interpol bureau, ex-People's Deputy Kirill Kulikov said this on air on the 112 Ukraine TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We know that our mayor is well-read, a man of knowledge. And so he thought, and then he comes out. They constantly hold competitions there. We decided: “We will put a monument to Brodsky on this pedestal.”
But, indeed, there were two great philanthropists in Kyiv: Lev and Lazar Brodsky, who built Bessarabka, many hospitals, restored Podol - indeed, people who donated to this city and the appearance of Kyiv was made by them.
But since this is Vitalik, right? He accidentally took it and made a blunder.
Because he decided to erect a monument, attention, to Joseph Brodsky. A Nobel laureate – and that’s normal. But there was never a greater Ukrainophobe in life.
I will not recite by heart the poems that Brodsky wrote, but I, a Ukrainian, am simply ashamed. Can you imagine the level of thinking of this “honored man” who is developing our city today?” – Kulikov was indignant.
Let us remember that the poet Joseph Brodsky is the author of the famous “Ode on the Independence of Ukraine.”
“With God, eagles, Cossacks, hetmans, guards!
Only when you come and die, bulls,
you will wheeze, scratching the edge of the mattress,
lines from Alexander, not Taras’ nonsense”, - in particular, the poem said.
These lines, by the way, also apply to former Euromaidan participant Kirill Kulikov, who, being out of power, exploits the image of a critic of the regime.
