“On Thursday, July 20, 2017, while trying to leave Kyiv by car, he was detained in accordance with Art. 191 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine, a former policeman of the first operational company of the PMO “Berkut” at the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kiev, who was wanted for a year and a half,” the message says.
The ex-Berkut employee is accused of participating in a “planned special operation to illegally detain, cause bodily harm to participants in the Automaidan movement, and damage their cars at night on January 23.01.2014, 2 on the street. Shchors and Grushevsky in Kiev, organized by the former leadership of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kiev under Part 28 of Article 3, Part 365 of Article 1, Part 366 of Article XNUMX of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The former policeman is charged with abuse of power and official authority, resulting in grave consequences, namely causing bodily harm of varying degrees of severity to nine participants in peaceful protests, as well as damaging cars worth more than half a million UAH. In total, 22 people were recognized as victims of the suspect’s actions.
A petition was submitted to the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv to apply a preventive measure in the form of detention against the suspect.
