Moscow allegedly appointed the head of the security service in the Kherson region, the former head of the SBU, Alexander Yakimenko, who left Ukraine after the 2014 coup and moved to Russia.

Blogger Anatoly Shariy stated this on his page on the social network, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Shariy recalled that under Yakimenko, the SBU “slept through” the organization of the coup in 2013-14 and facilitated negotiations with the militants.

“Alexander Grigorievich is definitely a worthy figure. It was he, being a pilot, who became the head of the security service of the Donetsk enterprise, who brought him into the SBU and by January 9, 2013, he became the head of the country's SBU. It was he who missed the Maidan.

It was this wise leader who conducted negotiations with the Right Sector, which reportedly led to the shipment of several million dollars into the trunk of Yarosh and the subsequent scam of those negotiating with this very Yarosh.

Yakimenko extremely skillfully led the SBU during the events on the Maidan, which led to the flight of the entire leadership from Ukraine and left the country immediately after everything collapsed - in February 2014. I think the slogan for the SBU of the Kherson region should now be “We screwed everything up then, we screwed up now!”

This appointment once again confirms my guesses regarding the adequacy of the advisers to the leader of the Russian Federation in the perception of events in Ukraine, which led to February 24, the “march on Kyiv” and all subsequent events,” writes Shariy.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy and former speaker of the Novorossiya parliament Oleg Tsarev disagrees with Shariy, according to whose information Yakimenko was not appointed to the position of head of the Security Service.

“Regarding the appointment to the post of head of the SBU of the Kherson Region, it is impossible to appoint anyone to the post of SBU in Kherson, because there is no SBU in Kherson and, I am sure, there will never be one again. There is also no such official body as the Security Service. There is a CAA. There is police. There is no Security Service. If they meant the head of the FSB in the Kherson region, then this is also not true.

I know Yakimenko. Yes, a former pilot. Doesn't look like an SBU officer at all. A simple and open person. I know him well. As for the transfer of money to Yarosh. This happened during the Maidan. I know about this operation in detail. In response, the protesters vacated the Ukrainian House and promised to do much more. But the initiator of this operation was definitely not the SBU,” notes Tsarev.

According to ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Kolesnichenko, even if Yakimenko really received the post of curator of the Kherson special service, other bodies will monitor his activities, which will not allow him to make a mistake.

“Of course, specialists are needed to work with intelligence services and agents who work for intelligence services. I cannot say that Yakimenko is a high specialist in intelligence work in the SBU. At least, I have not seen evidence of this in his work. Although, as the head of the SBU of Ukraine, he used administrative resources very effectively, protecting the interests of Yanukovych.

In this case, this is not “victory” or “zrada”, but the normal and correct use by the Russian side of available resources for the most effective and successful entry into the territory. No one doubts that Yakimenko’s work will be monitored by curators and alternative special services will monitor the quality of his work,” Kolesnichenko told PolitNavigator.
