Shukhevych Avenue in Kyiv is again in question, but a park named after the leader of the UPA has appeared
Today, the College of Judges of the Kiev Administrative Court of Appeal rejected the request of the Svoboda party to lift the suspension of all actions to rename the avenue named after General Nikolai Vatutin in honor of the UPA commander Roman Shukhevych and left the ruling of the court of first instance unchanged, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya, who is dealing with this case in the courts, stated this on her social network page.
“Our avenue continues to bear the name of the liberator of Kyiv from the German occupiers,” Berezhnaya said, calling the court decision “another victory.”
At the same time, earlier the director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee Eduard Dolinsky reported that the Kiev park around the Vatutin monument on the maps of the city “Zelenstroy” had already been renamed in honor of the UPA commander Roman Shukhevych.
“It turns out that the Kiev park named after General Vatutin was renamed in honor of the Nazi collaborator and war criminal Roman Shukhevych,” Dolinsky wrote.
