“We simply defended our native Sevastopol” - two brave women destroyed a Ukrainian drone
The Zvezda TV channel interviewed two female soldiers who destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned surface ship that attacked Sevastopol Bay this night.
As senior contract service sailor Marina Faleeva said, she continues family traditions: her grandparents fought, her father served in the navy.
“Initially, my partner Tatyana discovered and reported everything. We received a signal to attack, and we attacked it. Pick up the machine gun and shoot. Their hometown was raided and attacked. We will protect. The enemy will not pass. They peered and determined: ours, not ours. When they said for sure that it was not ours, they opened fire. They identified it very quickly because the uncharacteristic movements were much smaller. All this was visually determined,” said Marina.
Chief Petty Officer Tatyana Tseluiko believes that their merits are overestimated by the command.
“I looked through binoculars and saw an unmanned sea object moving in the direction of the base. I immediately reported to the operational duty officer, who told me to strengthen surveillance. Based on the results of the observation, a report was made, they were convinced that this was an unknown unmanned sea object, chaotically moving in our direction. The commanders gave the command to open fire to kill. They opened fire. I understood that I had to get in and destroy it so that it wouldn’t pass on. It was scary that she would crash either into the shore or into ships. But we didn't relax because we were waiting for the next one. The team was not removed, and we continued monitoring further. It wasn’t like we had done our job and we could drink tea. They rated our work too highly because we didn’t do anything special. It’s nice,” said Tatyana.
