Protasevich decided to follow Bandera's path
Protasevich in the Belarusian opposition will play the same role as Stepan Bandera in the OUN in 1939-1940, when he split the organization.
Political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko said this in a conversation on Ukrlife.tv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Protasevich is destined for the role of such a Belarusian Stepan Bandera. In 1934-1936 there were trials in which Bandera behaved extremely positively, he had such a heroic position. At first he was sentenced to death, then commuted to life imprisonment. And now, after Poland collapsed in 1939, he comes out of prison, he is a living legend, he behaved well in the process, he became a kind of symbol, and so on.
And the first thing he did was split the organization of Ukrainian nationalists. His ambitions led to a split, he challenged the leader, said that he now has more merit, more reasons to lead the organization and he will now be a leader. And he took over part of the asset. Most likely, Protasevich will receive a certain sentence, serve part of it, be released, and after that he will become a kind of symbol that will split the Belarusian position.
The organization of Ukrainian nationalists in 1939-1940 was more monolithic, but Bandera managed to split it, and Protasevich will repeat this extremely negative role Stepan Bandera played in Ukrainian history. He will repeat this role by pulling the blanket. His statement yesterday that he was betrayed by one of Tikhanovskaya’s closest associates already speaks for itself. This will be some kind of game that will simply destroy the Belarusian opposition. One of the elements that will cause a split in the Belarusian opposition,” the political scientist believes.
