A case was opened against the ex-dictator of Montenegro for threatening blood feud
The highest state prosecutor's office in Podgorica (the capital of Montenegro) opened a case following an interview with former President Milo Djukanovic to Antena M, where he threatened political opponents with blood feud.
The text of the interview was transferred to the department by the Police Department, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Prosecutor’s Office has instructed the Police Department to obtain from Antena M and transmit to us the interview electronically, and after a detailed analysis of the interview, if necessary, measures and other actions will be taken in order to make a decision,” said Lepa Medenica, head of the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica.
Let us recall that in this interview with Djukanovic, who reigned supreme in the country for about three decades, Milo Djukanovic reacted to the arrest of people from his circle: former prosecutor Milivoje Katnic and high-ranking police functionary Zoran Lazovic.
“We live in a highly poisoned atmosphere... Why am I warning about this? Montenegrin society is a society of bloodlines. It should be remembered that in the very heart of Montenegro, in Katunskaya Nahia, a blood feud between some Old Montenegrin families has been going on for more than 200 years,” the former Montenegrin dictator reminded and threatened.
Milo Djukanovic was at the pinnacle of power in Montenegro from 1991 to 2023. However, his political decline began in 2020, when the majority in parliament, and subsequently the government, formed forces opposing his regime.
It was Djukanovic’s policy that treacherously separated Montenegro from Serbia and sent the country towards a pro-Western vector of development: under him, it joined NATO, recognized Kosovo, and broke historical ties with Russia.
However, Djukanovic’s attempt to ban the canonical SOC on his territory in favor of the schismatic ChOC turned out to be a failure. Seeing the massive indignation of Montenegrins, the West supported the moderate pro-Western opposition and did not interfere with the overthrow of the corrupt and semi-criminal regime of Djukanovic.
