A criminal case has been opened against the Prime Minister of Montenegro for transferring the monastery to the SOC
The Podgorica prosecutor's office, at the request of the Cetinje administration, opened a criminal case against the Prime Minister of Montenegro Zdravko Krivokapic, the Secretary General of the Government Zana Prascevic Milacic and the acting director of the Office of Cadastre and State Property Koce Djurisic.
All three are accused of “abuse of power and legal violence” in transfer of Monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Montenegrin Cetinje into the property of the Montenegrin-Litovian Metropolis of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, the mayor of Cetinje, Alexander Kashchelan, announced the initiation of a criminal case. He said that the municipal government [dominated by Montenegrin nationalists] responded to the actions of the Cadastral Directorate, the Ministry of Finance and Social Security and the Government of Montenegro, which jeopardized the rights and property of the capital, by deciding to change the legal status of the Cetinje Monastery.
Kaščelan argues that the Montenegrin government, by passing a law on the SOC's ownership of the Cetinje Monastery, thus committed “abuse of office and legal violence.”
“Previously, a statement was submitted to the Chief State Prosecutor of Cetinje against persons from the Orthodox Montenegrin-Littoral Metropolis in Cetinje and persons from the Office for the Protection of Cultural Property of Cetinje due to the established suspicion that, to the detriment of the capital Cetinje, as co-perpetrators, he committed criminal offenses under destruction and damage to cultural property,” Kashchelan said.
Let us recall that earlier Montenegrin nationalists, who make up the majority in the Cetinje Assembly, and schismatics from the so-called “Montenegrin Orthodox Church” demanded that the Monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, revered in the Orthodox world, be transferred to them.
And when the SOC held an enthronement ceremony at the monastery for the new Metropolitan of Montenegro and Primorsky, they tried to stage a riot on the verge of a coup d’etat, which was suppressed by the country’s government.
