Kyiv, July 04 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – Activists of the social movement “Love Against Homosexuality” picketed the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, from which they demanded decisive opposition to any pressure from international institutions insisting on the legislative legalization of same-sex relationships in Ukraine, a Navigator correspondent reports.

The reason for the picket was an event announced by LGBT activists for July 5 in Kyiv, the location of which is still kept secret.
The director of the information policy department, Evgeniy Perebiinos, came out to the picketers and was handed an appeal with the relevant demands. Among them, in particular, there is a call to present a note of protest to Great Britain, Sweden, and the Netherlands, whose embassies, as stated in the appeal, finance the activities of LGBT organizations in Ukraine.
Currently, the Verkhovna Rada has adopted in the first reading a law banning the propaganda of homosexuality in Ukraine, but its final adoption has been delayed.
“What to hide is that deputies are afraid that some EU representatives will wave their fingers and scold,” Ruslan Kukharchuk, chairman of the “Love Against Homosexuality” movement, told the agency’s correspondent. “It is a shame for parliamentarians if they do not defend the position of the majority of Ukrainian citizens, but are subject to international pressure.”
