“Now it is unknown for whom time works. The opposition believes that time is on its side; the economic situation looks such that, perhaps, in six months, the formed alternative government will be able to take real power in the Supreme Council. Obviously, the opposition believes that, under the pressure of circumstances, the Party of Regions will not withstand this pressure from below, from the side, and so on,” the expert noted.
“And the authorities believe that it is important for them to act today in this way - not by force, because today there are no forces, no resources, no foreign policy opportunities, because the West has done everything to put pressure on the security forces, on Yanukovych, on the oligarchs, so that no there were no power scenarios. So what is needed? To gain time, to wear down the opposition, to impose some new agenda, to carry out a constitutional process, to stretch it out over time, perhaps to hold some kind of referendum - for a parliamentary or presidential republic... This coincides with the constitutional intentions of the opposition. That is, it turns into such a positional game until the end of 14,” predicts Vadim Karasev.
