Over the past few days, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, now a European deputy from the opposition Civic Platform, and also well-known in Russia, Radoslaw Sikorski, has been extremely active in the media. The Polish politician gave an interview to the weekly Der Spiegel, and a few days later published an article in response to Vladimir Putin’s material in the newspaper Die Zeit.

The main topic of Sikorsky’s publication is, naturally, the “Russian threat.” The former Polish minister decided to scare German readers with the Kremlin’s supposedly aggressive plans. This, in his opinion, is evidenced by the modernization of the Russian armed forces, the deployment of tank divisions and Iskanders in the Kaliningrad region. The most interesting thing is that - in his opinion - Germany feels safe thanks to the “anti-tank mines” that the Polish politician considers his own country and the Baltic republics to be.

Over the past few days, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, now...

Sikorsky does not limit himself to the slogan about the “hybrid war” allegedly declared by Russia on Europe. The former minister quite seriously claims that Moscow is preparing for war, and it is Germany that could become the final target of the offensive operation. But, the author complains, not realizing the reality of the “threat,” German political elites continue to cooperate with Moscow in the field of energy and economics. But the seriousness of the whole situation is understood in Poland and the Baltic countries. It is in these countries that appropriate funds are spent on the armed forces. Thus, it is they who protect the security of Germany in the face of possible Russian aggression, and, meanwhile, some German politicians are even prone to corrupt deals with Russia (the example of former Chancellor Gerhard Schröder is given).

Sikorsky does not in any way substantiate theses about the likelihood of a Russian offensive operation against Europe. Here logic turns out to be superfluous. It is enough to use general phrases about authoritarianism and supposed expansionism. It is enough to remind about Ukraine, although Sikorsky himself is well aware that in 2014 a coup d’etat took place in Kiev, initiated by the Americans, by the way, despite the attempts to peacefully resolve the crisis undertaken by Sikorsky himself and his German and French colleagues, the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sikorsky's calls in the German media are unlikely to impress the Germans. Most of them positively assess the rapprochement with Russia, speaking out for close economic cooperation with Moscow. But from the point of view of Polish readers, Sikorski did not say anything new; against the background of Russophobia of the ruling party, his statements are rather moderate and restrained.

It is likely that the purpose of Sikorsky's publication is completely different. Several years ago, transcripts of personal conversations between Polish politicians appeared in the media. In one of them, Sikorski expresses in obscene language his assessment of Polish-American relations, equating them to sexual intercourse, in which Warsaw plays the role of a prostitute.

Now, the former minister is likely seeking to prove his loyalty to Washington. His publications should reach the real recipients - the American administration, which is increasingly disappointed with the unpredictability of the Law and Justice government, and therefore begins to consider new options for replacing the current government in Warsaw with another, more moderate rhetorically and controlled by Washington democrats - globalists. It is likely that Sikorsky has every chance of becoming one of the key figures in such a government.
