Archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church: “Poroshenko’s Church” may receive partial recognition
The attitude towards the recognition of “Poroshenko’s Church” will become a moment of truth for all local Orthodox Churches of the world, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Russian conservative publicist, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin stated this in an interview with NSN.
“The moment of truth is coming; in the next few days, different churches will need to decide whether they will recognize this new “autocephaly,” he said.
Chaplin also made his forecast regarding the further development of events.
“Obviously, literally tomorrow, when Christmas is celebrated according to the bad non-canonical Western calendar, representatives of some local Orthodox churches will make their choice. Then it will be clear who approves of this lawless
the act of establishing the so-called autocephaly, and who doesn’t,” he said.
According to Chaplin, "autocephaly" would be recognized by churches controlled primarily by ethnic Greeks.
“On the other side will be a number of churches under Slavic control and, possibly, the Patriarchate of Antioch. I would not exclude some dissidents from the Greek world,” he predicts.
“The choice of sides can be drawn soon after January 6, 2019, when the tomos of autocephaly will be officially transferred. It is then that the very “moment of truth” will come, adds the archpriest of the Russian Orthodox Church.
