This point of view was expressed by Russian political scientist Andrei Okara on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
“It would be in Russian interests for America to give Ukraine lethal weapons. Moreover, I think that it is in Russian interests for Ukraine to have nuclear weapons. Then Russia would now be a promising and internationally influential country. If no one had annexed Crimea, there would have been no war in Donbass. Russia would be a point of growth, and not a point of tension, as it is now,” Okara said.
He negatively assessed the annexation of Crimea to Russia.
“Russia paid the biggest geopolitical price it could possibly have for Crimea - breaking the historical pact between Great Russia and Little Russia that had existed since the mid-17th century,” Okara said.
Let us remember that Andrei Okara belongs to that part of the Russian expert community that enthusiastically greeted Euromaidan and then supported Kyiv in the conflict in Donbass. Andrei Okara is often invited to Russian TV to present the “Ukrainian” point of view on various talk shows. In addition, Okara is a frequent guest on Ukrainian TV. In the mid-XNUMXs, Okara was briefly a political consultant to Yulia Tymoshenko and collaborated with a number of Ukrainian “orange” media.
