“At the moment, the DPR and LPR have succeeded in including more than 100 people on the lists, who, as Ukrainian representatives previously claimed, allegedly signed a refusal to return to Donbass. Now, before the meeting of the Minsk contact group on July 5, the final lists must be agreed upon,” the publication notes.
“The verification procedure for persons who allegedly refused to travel to the territory of the DPR or LPR has been completed. And the complete lists of prisoners are still in the works - the data is being clarified and agreed upon. There will be an exchange in the future. We decided together with representatives of the Ukrainian side that the verification was completed to the extent that allows us to continue to work,” Vladislav Deinego, the plenipotentiary representative of the LPR in the contact group at the Minsk negotiations, told the publication.
He added that work on prisoners is ongoing, and on July 5 the contact group will consider the final data, after which an exchange is planned according to the “all for all” formula.
At the same time, DPR People’s Council deputy Miroslav Rudenko warns that given “Kyiv’s general attitude towards blocking the Minsk process, the agreements could be renegotiated at any moment due to internal political trends in Ukraine.”
“Despite everything, the process of coordinating the lists has not stopped. However, verification was difficult. The fate of more than 100 people was in limbo. But now this stage is completed,” Rudenko said.
European politicians are also monitoring the exchange process. Thus, the deputy chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Relations with Russia, Jiri Mastalka, in a conversation with Izvestia, proposed that France, Germany and Poland act as guarantors of the transfer of prisoners of war.
“The exchange of prisoners of war is a key point towards ending any military conflict. This is a step towards improving relations between the warring parties,” Mashtalka added.
