As the press service of Bryansk customs reported, this equipment, which is used by special services, was hidden in technical niches in the train compartment.
“At the customs post at the Bryansk Orlovsky station, during the control of a passenger train traveling from Moscow to Kiev, four Qwantum digital thermal imaging devices and six Digisight night vision sights were discovered,” said customs representative Lyudmila Borisova.
These devices are special-purpose products and are used by security officers, special forces of the army and police. To transport such equipment, a mandatory written declaration was required.
The train conductor, a citizen of Ukraine, a resident of Chernigov, admitted herself to be the transporter of the equipment. The devices were seized and submitted for examination.
According to the Kiev publication “Strana”, according to preliminary estimates, their cost is about 1 million rubles (389 UAH). An administrative case was initiated against the carrier under Part 270 of Art. 2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Illegal movement of goods with concealment from customs control through the use of hiding places or other methods that make their detection difficult.”
The conductor faces a fine of up to three times the cost of smuggling.
