Separatist provocation: Pristina authorities drove militants to the border to confiscate Serbian license plates
Pristina sent “special police forces” to the checkpoints “Jarinje” and “Brnjak” on the border with central Serbia Rosu on donated American Humvee armored vehicles to begin confiscating Serbian license plates from local Serbs.
It is reported KosovoOnline, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.
The reason for the emergence of tension in the north of Kosovo was the decision of the Albanian leadership of the region to establish “reciprocity” in relation to Serbian license plates. As stated by the “Minister of Internal Affairs” of Kosovo, Djeliaj Svechla, who signed the corresponding order, all motorists with Serbian license plates must receive test license plates of the “Republic of Kosovo”.
According to Svechla, only such numbers issued by the “Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo” are officially recognized by the regional authorities.
And already today, the Albanian authorities have sent transport to the border with the appropriate equipment, which should help the separatists identify Serbian vehicle license plates on vehicles.
In response, residents of northern Serbian enclaves used trucks and agricultural machinery to block roads leading to the border. After which Pristina sent “special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs” there Rosu in armored vehicles, the militants demand that the local Serbs disperse and not interfere with the movement, but they refuse to leave
The leaders of the local Serbian party “Serbian List” arrived at the scene of the growing conflict, in particular its leader Goran Rakic, as well as the mayors of the Serbian enclaves Zoran Todić (Leposavić) and Milan Radojević (North Mitrovica).
“This is a direct threat to people who are worried about how they will provide bread for their children. We also informed Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak and asked for EU assistance. And I call on the state of Serbia and President Vucic to help us. We have just now found ourselves in a similar situation, but I am sure that President Vučić will find a solution and help our people. Belgrade, react, Vucic react, people here are upset and scared,” said Goran Rakic
