The thieving head of Naftogaz confirmed the title of “asshole”
The head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz, Andrei Kobolev, decided to donate his salary to charity starting in February, once again confirming rumors about immodest amounts of income.
“I made a decision from February of this year until the end of this calendar year, that is, until the completion of the political process, that I will transfer all my income to charitable needs,” Kobolev said that he has such an opportunity, since he received a bonus from winnings in court case against Gazprom.
Kobolev did not mention that Moscow almost immediately disputed the verdict and did not transfer anything to Kyiv, but Ukrainian officials managed to collect the bonus.
The ostentatious decision to transfer the prize “to charity,” according to ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov, suggests that Kobolev personally admitted his corruption.
“The statement by the head of Naftagaz Kobolev about his intention to donate his entire salary to charity actually contains a confession. Within the framework of a market economy, an honest person cannot live without remuneration for his work; he will simply die of hunger. And if, after receiving millions in bonuses, he explains this by the opportunity to live on past reserves, this arouses even greater suspicions of corruption. An official will never give up that kind of money unless he has even more in the shadows,” comments Azarov.
Ukrainian energy market expert Dmitry Marunich reacted more radically to Kobolev’s statement: “Kobolev is an outright asshole. I received the bonus in 18, and decided to do charity work a month before the end of the employment contract,” the expert noted in his blog.
