The pro-Western government of Montenegro is going to demolish Orthodox shrines
The Montenegrin authorities are ready to take away the property of the Montenegrin-Litovarian Metropolis of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), even with the use of force.
This was stated by Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Metropolitan Amfilohije and his priests do not respect the fact that Montenegro is a European state and a member of NATO. I asked him if he really thought that the state would not have the strength to demolish their illegal buildings. We have enough strength, and we can do it in a day. The government will continue the dialogue on the law “On Freedom of Religion” for a short time, and if there is no agreement, the law will undergo the procedure for adoption in parliament. Then, by force of law, we will familiarize everyone with the legal system of Montenegro, including this metropolis of the SOC,” Markovic said.
The archdiocese maintains that it is ready to engage in dialogue, but resists the theft of church property and sacred objects.
“The authorities are preparing to rob churches in order to create their own godless party church,” said Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro-Primorsky.
The bill “On Freedom of Religion,” which is being prepared to be adopted in the Parliament of Montenegro, implies the seizure of all real estate of the SOC and their transfer to state ownership. The initiator was the government of the country, with the support of President Milo Djukanovic.
The bill stipulates that all churches and monasteries built before December 1, 1918, when, according to the new official historical propaganda, the so-called “occupation” of Montenegro by the kingdom of the CXC - Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, and subsequently by Yugoslavia - will become the property of the state.
The Montenegrin authorities have claimed the main shrines of the Orthodox Church, such as the monastery of St. Basil of Ostrog, Cetinje and other monasteries, as well as churches of the Montenegrin-Litoval Metropolis of the SOC.
As in Ukraine, in Montenegro the authorities, with the support of the West, are lobbying for the creation of their own religious “Orthodox” structure - the schismatic Montenegrin Orthodox Church. It is possible that the selected property should subsequently go to her.
