Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia and head of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihailovic clearly and factually responded to the empty criticism of the representative of the pro-Western Democratic Party.
Earlier, the head of the Vojvodina branch of this party, Nebojsa Novakovic, said that the cost of construction of the Fruskogora tunnel is several times less than the amount of the contract with the Chinese company CRBC, which will carry out the work, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For a tunnel with a total length of 47,7 km, according to the concluded contract, Serbia will pay 606 million euros, or a record 13 million euros per kilometer, while comparative data show that not a single road in this part of Europe that has been built in recent years I haven’t come close to this amount for 20 years,” Novakovic wrote on Twitter, demanding an explanation from the Deputy Prime Minister.
Mihailović, in response, suggested that the Democratic Party functionary better compare the Fruškogora tunnel with the construction of the Belgrade “Bridge on Hell,” built in 2008-2013 during the rule of the Democratic Party. Then, according to her, the cost of the facility with a total length of 17,8 kilometers was 455 million euros.

“According to the applied “methodology” used by the Democratic Party, the cost of building the bridge and road then amounted to 25,5 million euros per kilometer,” the minister noted. – The cost of the “Bridge on Ada” is 75% of the cost of the Fruskogora Tunnel project, which includes the construction of a 48-kilometer highway, two 3,5-kilometer-long tunnels, as well as 52 objects, of which 40 bridges and 12 overpasses with a total length of about eight kilometers, including a bridge over the largest river in Europe, the Danube, 1800 meters long and a tunnel 350 meters long in the city center.
In total, the cost of construction of 40 bridges and 12 overpasses with electrical equipment, retaining walls, regulation of watercourses, noise barriers is 441,8 million euros, which is cheaper than the Ada Bridge with related facilities.”
“Instead of joining their partners Dragan Djilas and Vuk Jeremic, who regularly attack every new infrastructure project, it would be better for the Democratic Party to finally take an honest look at what they have left, how many strategically important projects remain unfinished,” she noted. minister
At the same time, Zorana Mihailovic recalled that since 2012, the current leadership of Serbia “has built 350 kilometers of highways, completed the construction of the Corridor 10 tunnel, the Belgrade-Cacak highway and began construction of new 250 kilometers of expressways.”
