Epiphany in Kyiv: Sanctions do not harm Russia, but have made it stronger
Western sanctions did not weaken the Russian Federation one step; on the contrary, they led to the consolidation of society and the withdrawal of the economy from the crisis. Former First Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Stepan Gavrish stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, this is also understood in the EU, where they have already begun to talk about lifting sanctions at the level of top officials of states.
“The sanctions, as time shows today, did not work at all. On the contrary, they turned Russia into such a strong citadel that it began to put pressure on the whole world. She moved away from the sanctions crisis and went on the offensive. Please note that Europe is gradually starting to discuss the fact that sanctions, at a minimum, need to be softened and, at a maximum, they need to be abolished altogether. Governments are already talking about this directly,” Gavrish said.
