PRS drove to Turkmenbashi for a gas dream
No sooner had the contrail of the Sweet Guarantor’s plane, which had recently taken a long detour to Elbasy Nazarbayev, melted in the sky blue, than restless fate again forced the Sugar Plum Fairy to prepare for a long air journey - this time to bow to the ruler of the gas tap Turkmenbashi II.

Apparently, something went wrong in the affairs of Shokoladny in the Kazakh capital, since they had to burn government kerosene again in order to get to Turkmenistan this time. The path is not short, considering that due to the extreme stubbornness of its own regime, a detour had to be made along the route Kyiv - Odessa - Black Sea - Poti - Tbilisi - Baku - Caspian Sea - Turkmenbashi International Airport - Ashgabat. Well, yes, the strategic supply of Roshen toffees in the presidential litak was supposed to brighten up the long telecast in the air.
Considering the tossing of the “presidential government” last October in search of a “supplier of last hope,” the purpose of Poroshenko’s unprecedented flight is a desperate search for a supplier of natural gas for Ukraine at an inexpensive price. Perhaps even for free. At least for a while. Let’s say until Ukraine’s economic growth begins in 20 years. Why the sweetest Pyotr Alekseevich decided that if naive gas suppliers of the “last hope” could not be found nearby, then there would be those far away, in Central Asia, who would be ready to rush headlong into the pool for the sake of bankruptcy and swindlers - it is not clear. It seems that both the president and the billionaire are spinning candies on an industrial scale, and there is a complete underestimation of “potential partners.” In any case, due to the small number of independent natural gas suppliers in the area, President Roshenko is forced to bypass wealthier apartments according to the scanty list on hand.
Since a day has passed since Poroshenko’s arrival in Turkmenistan and there was no fanfare, I can assume that, as before and now, the supply of Turkmen gas to Ukraine remains a difficult issue. Apparently, the inhuman regime of Turkmenbashi II did not understand the plight of the young European democracy and issued a price tag no worse than that of the damned Muscovites. Because you can trumpet and shout at all corners as much as you like about the gains in the field of reverse gas supplies from Europe, but you can’t fool your pocket: reverse gas is indistinguishable from Russian pipeline gas, only you have to pay for it at the price of Russian gas supplies to a given country, yes also taking into account the interest of the reverse supplier. And you can’t play around with scammers there.
In an effort to diversify natural gas supplies to Ukraine, the topic of gas purchases from Turkmenistan was raised by the Yanukovych government several years ago. Turkmen gas had not been supplied to Ukraine under direct contracts since 2006, and the topic of abandoning an alternative source was completely murky: Tymoshenko’s gas “schemes” were subject to additional disputes - which gas should be considered Turkmen gas, since it is supplied together with Russian gas through the Russian gas transportation system.
Previously, the Turkmen side stated that it has the resource of gas supplies to Ukraine, but insisted that it would still be impossible to solve the issue of pumping gas without Russia, for the same sad reason for Ukraine that it would not be possible to deliver it bypassing the Russian gas transportation system. desire.
But Poroshenko, apparently, is not discouraged. Uzbekistan remains among the gas suppliers. This means there is a reason for the third hook to drive back - back for a mad dog. But even here the damned Muscovites, who have stuck their gas pipes everywhere, cannot be avoided, and ignoring the Russian gas transportation system means turning gas negotiations into a theater of the absurd in advance. For Poroshenko, the theater of the absurd is gray everyday life, but it doesn’t follow from this that the former Central Asian republics of the USSR, even with the burden of their own problems, will take Poroshenko’s gray everyday life so close to their hearts that they will lay off the gas and joyfully occupy the niche of “supplier of last hope”? Especially against the backdrop of the latest scam with payments to Russia on its own Eurobonds...
