Psaki: We are not calling for regime change in Russia
The United States considers Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal, but does not call for a change of power in the Russian Federation.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said this at a briefing in Washington, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Psaki, Vladimir Putin is a global pariah due to isolation from the United States.
“Our policy is: no, we are not calling for regime change. And this was not our policy and continues to not be our policy. But again, we believe that he is a war criminal and should be looked at by the international system that assesses war crimes. Our policy is not to call for regime change. We are not calling for regime change.
But then again, he is the one who has committed atrocities against people in his country, he is a pariah in the world. And every step we've taken has made that clear to the global community," Psaki said.
Also, the White House representative once again stated that American sanctions had almost torn the Russian economy “to shreds”:
“The Russian economy is on the verge of collapse. Inflation is growing rapidly and stands at 15 percent. The economy is also projected to shrink or shrink by 15 percent. The private sector is not investing in Russia. And President Putin is a pariah. This is all the result of a coordinated global effort to create economic and financial impacts that are having an incredible impact.”
