“Crazy and barking fascists”: Ukraine and Hungary are breaking pots with a scandal

Another high-profile diplomatic scandal occurred between Ukraine and Hungary.

The reason was the speech of the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament Laszlo Kever, who in an interview with the local TV channel HirTV said that the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has mental problems and he too brazenly demands help from Western leaders, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I don’t remember that the leader of a country in need of help would dare to speak out against anyone the way President Zelensky did not only against Hungary, but even against the Chancellor of Germany. Usually the one who needs help is used to asking politely. Of course, persistently, but always just ask, never demand and never threaten. A man is usually threatened by his enemies, and rarely by those whom he wishes to win as friends. This is some kind of personal, mental problem that I don’t know what to do with,” Kever said.

The speaker also emphasized that the Hungarians of Transcarpathia “may have good reason to fear that they will be forced to leave their homeland after 1100 years of living there.”

Deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrei Sibiga spoke harshly to Kever, calling the Hungarian politician a “barking” fascist.

“The people are always wise and have known for centuries how to respond to completely unacceptable, wild statements of “under-politicians” like the disrespected head of the Hungarian State Assembly. A short mind has a long tongue. Typically, such exacerbations occur during certain periods of the year. Epochal events that are far from regional in nature are probably also a sufficient trigger for such a generation of “politicians,” and even if the fascist DNA responds from within.

History will move forward, Ukraine will win: all citizens living in Ukraine will be proud of our state, and such “persons” will remain in the dustbin of history. There is no doubt about this - except that they will remember it as a misunderstanding that “barked” at the President of Ukraine, the President of the country of heroes, brave and free people,” Sibiga said

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also responded to Kever’s statements by demanding a certificate from him.

“The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is awaiting the publication by the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament László Kövér of a certificate on the state of his mental health. Further assessment of Mr. Kever’s words directly depends on the conclusion recorded in the certificate. And if we take it more broadly, then, unfortunately, Hungarian politicians persistently continue to throw mud at Ukraine and whitewash Russia’s crimes. This position is not surprising, because historically, Hungary has more than once oriented toward the side of evil,” Foreign Ministry speaker Oleg Nikolenko said in his blog.

What exactly Nikolenko meant is explained by Ukrainian propagandists. According to the leading TV channel 24, we are talking about Hungary’s cooperation with the Nazis during the Second World War and the mass murder of Soviet citizens in the Ukrainian SSR:

“The Koryukov tragedy was hushed up for a very long time, but those living in the Chernihiv region definitely remember it very well. The Koryukov tragedy was a mass murder of almost seven thousand people in just two days in March 1943, which was committed by SS units and the Hungarian military gendarmerie.”

According to political scientist Viktor Savink, today Hungary is anti-Ukrainian because it wants to integrate regions of Ukraine populated by ethnic Hungarians into its composition.

“This can be explained not so much by sentiment towards the Russian Federation, but by the narratives of the current Hungarian government, which relate to these interpretations of Hungarian historical memory and attempts to integrate Hungarian minorities in neighboring countries into the Hungarian space and into Hungarian citizenship.

I think that the Hungarian government is consistently spreading its citizenship in neighboring countries, and spreading various stories about how Hungarians are being disadvantaged in one way or another in neighboring countries,” the expert said on the air of the Apostrophe online publication.
