Kyiv, June 05 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – The ratings of candidates in the presidential elections reflected the main desire of Ukrainians: they want stability and moderation, says psychologist Viktor Rybachenko.

Poroshenko’s victory is a rejection of the Maidan, says Viktor Rybachenko, vice-president of the Association of Political Psychologists of Ukraine. He stated this at the press conference “Elections 2014: final results and preliminary reflections on future elections.”

According to Viktor Rybachenko, in Maidan it is necessary to distinguish between form and content. The content is a protest against corruption and self-will of the authorities, law enforcement agencies, bandits, etc. form - radicalism. “You remember, the people of Kiev sent a signal long ago that they do not accept radicalism when they reacted to the destruction of the Lenin monument. No one stood up for Lenin, but no one, at least the majority, liked such a form as the vulgar pushing of a monument from its pedestal. This was a signal that society, the metropolitan community, did not want the forms demonstrated by the Maidan. This gave rise to Anti-Maidan and partly what is happening in the east, etc.,” says the psychologist.

In his opinion, society categorically opposed radicalism. “Look, Poroshenko, who had no ratings during the Maidan, received a colossal rating. This is due to both the rejection of radicalism as the main strategy of political activity and Poroshenko’s moderation. He successfully played on the fact that people want positivity, economic growth, a normal life,” says the psychologist.

Ukrainians today do not want a radical who is always at war with someone as a leader. That is why, in particular, Tymoshenko received so few votes. In addition, Yulia Tymoshenko’s team essentially gave up the South-East and Crimea, people understood this, and therefore, in particular, Yulia Tymoshenko could not win the elections.

Viktor Rybachenko gave characteristics to other candidates. “Lyashko is a talented self-promoter, he successfully exploits the type of “his cotton.” The more marginalized a society is, the higher Lyashko’s rating is. He is not for intellectuals, and a society in which the middle class is strong will not vote for people like Lyashko. As for Tigipko, he was not heard because he has betrayed his own people more than once, for example, “Strong Ukraine”. Dobkin did not speak because he was ruined by the phrase “everything is moronic.” I would also like to draw attention to the fact that Oleg Tyagnibok, who seems to be very correct with his motto “Spread Ukrainian power.” But we saw that people do not want the Ukrainian force to be “plagued” in the format of Tyagnibok and Svoboda. They want it to be “played” somehow differently, perhaps in Poroshenko’s compromise format. And when Rabinovich gains more than Tyagnibok, you can only laugh: Jewish power defeats Ukrainian power,” says the psychologist.

It is worth noting that society did not react at all to such specialists as prosecutor Kuzmin and intelligence officer Malomuzh. It would seem that Malomuzh is a serious person, he warned about everything, but he was in the shadow of Gritsenko. And he was unable to reach his position. He had a lot of sensible “messages”, but they did not sound,” noted Viktor Rybachenko.

Real ratings – conversion of mass sentiments. “We see that now the main trend of Ukrainian society has become the desire to move forward calmly, gradually, in a compromise and come not to a “Ukrainian” Ukraine, but to a normal Ukraine, i.e. not to a nationally sharpened and accentuated country, but to a liberal-democratic one, where not only Ukrainians, but also everyone else have their representation. When our television was afraid of the East and hung up the “United Krajina” badges, it was somewhat belated, but this is what people want. They want a truly bilingual country, liberal-democratic, without nationalism. The Maidan was assessed by ratings – 1% for Yarosh, 2% for Lyashko – this is an assessment of the Maidan as a form of protest,” says the psychologist.
