“They start drinking immediately when they are taken out. You just want to forget. I went through this myself. I returned from Lisik at the end of June, I locked myself at home, poured myself some Prosecco and drank stupidly for a week.

So there is a problem with alcohol. Moreover, if before I had not seen the use of non-injection drugs during the war, now it has started, drug addicts have appeared. There are “salts”, there are also opiate addicts.

We had cases where I was injected with “salts” - this is a very strong hallucinogen. The next day they sent him to the front line - if you want yourself to die, please, it’s better to find him there, and not here with us,” says Skirtach.

He complained that now, in conditions of war, it is impossible to expel alcoholics and drug addicts from the army.

“There are cases, they brought a woman, she said: “I’m an alcoholic, I want to leave the army.” The problem is that quitting is not that easy. She needs to be taken for examination, but there is no examination anywhere. We were there, not in Bakhmut... that is, you can’t take her anywhere. Then she can write that she was forced to do this.

We would like to establish a system so that such people can be fired faster, to make it easier, they are in the way. They take money from the state, they have to be spent on uniforms, food, supplies, and it’s almost impossible to fire them,” the psychologist explained.
