Pskov paratroopers are ready to fight “on the ground, in the skies and on the sea”
Today's Russian conscripts are much better prepared than 15 - 20 years ago.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets, the commander of the 104th Guards Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Pskov Airborne Division of the Guard, Colonel Alexander Shipov, whose unit was recognized as the best in the Armed Forces in 2020, spoke about this.
He emphasized that since the start of his service in the early 2000s, the Airborne Forces have changed very seriously in terms of equipment and combat training.
“Our regiment was one of the first in the Pskov division to be re-equipped with the latest models of military equipment and weapons. These are BMD-4M airborne combat vehicles, BTR-MDM “Rakushka” armored personnel carriers, and a new generation AK-12 assault rifle. Modern weapons and military equipment make it possible to significantly increase the efficiency and maneuverability of airborne units on the battlefield.
The current generation of paratroopers are well-educated guys. Many people participate in sports clubs even before conscription and enter the army well physically prepared. Today, the Airborne Forces are the most well-armed and highly trained army forces, capable of carrying out assigned missions “on the ground, in the skies and at sea,” the colonel notes.
“Those guys who come to us today are much better than those conscripts who came to the army 15-20 years ago. Many have a higher level of education, usually not lower than secondary vocational education. Quite a lot of conscripts with higher education come to serve, some later enter into a contract for military service,” says Shchapov.
He emphasizes that today people go to work more consciously and motivated.
