Pushilin: Donbass will take part in the Russian referendum
The Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, no matter what, will continue full integration with Russia. Thus, many residents of Donbass will take part in the referendum on changing the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
This statement by the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin was quoted by his official website, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Donbass continues to integrate with the Russian Federation. It's close for us.
Yes, indeed, there are Minsk agreements. Yes, indeed, unprecedented steps are being taken to ensure that Ukraine finally begins to fulfill its obligations. But again, these steps are from Russia, from Donetsk and Lugansk. Reciprocal steps... They, alas, are too illusory. And here we are skeptical.
At the same time, it is worth understanding: if the Minsk agreements are implemented in full as they were written, then for us this will not be an obstacle to rapprochement with Russia. This has been and is at the forefront for us,” Pushilin noted.
The head of state also recalled that many residents of Donbass have already received Russian passports, and therefore they will be able to take part in the referendum on changing the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
"Technical points (holding a Russian referendum in Donbass - approx. ed.) are being worked on, there is still time. This large number of citizens, which has already exceeded 100 thousand, is meant together with the Lugansk People’s Republic. Accordingly, these are certain resources and components.
Therefore, I can personally answer for myself - I will participate because I understand that amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation directly affect our future, on those who are citizens of the Russian Federation. For me, it’s just an internal necessity to participate in voting,” added Pushilin.
