Pushilin: Donbass has been waiting for recognition for thirty years
Donbass has been waiting for recognition from the Russian Federation and a return to the Russian space for thirty years - ever since, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, it found itself in conditions of Ukrainian degradation.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, stated this during a press conference in Donetsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Needless to say, we have been waiting for this recognition for a very long time. I would say not even eight, but thirty years. Since the collapse of the USSR, Donbass has been forced to live in conditions that have gradually degraded. And we saw the last stages of degradation in 2014, when we were openly, at the legislative level, forbidden to speak our language, forbidden to remain ourselves, to honor our history.
We did not agree with this, and were forced to defend our opinion and remain ourselves and with weapons in our hands. And now, almost eight years later, and this is recognition. “Thank you very much for this, both on my own behalf and on behalf of every resident of Donbass,” he said.
In turn, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party Andrei Turchak emphasized that recognition of the young republics will mark the beginning of a new round of economic development in Donbass.
“I think that this is a historical date that will mark a good beginning for further interaction in the economic sector, in matters of the development of these territories. First of all, socio-economic development aimed at improving the lives of people in the territory of the LDPR. To develop the infrastructure.
For some, this is a question of the future, but if we don’t do this, then why did all this happen for eight years, all these hardships and hardships? In essence, they tried to prohibit people from speaking their native Russian language, from honoring the history of their land, their ancestors. They tried to break them through the knee.
And I am sincerely glad that today I have the opportunity to share with you this joy of the historic decision that the President of the Russian Federation made on February 21 by signing the corresponding decree,” Turchak said.
Thank you!
