Pushilin does not expect anything good after the separation at Stanitsa Luganskaya
Ukrainian armed forces are intensifying shelling of territories controlled by the Donbass republics.
The head of the DPR Denis Pushilin stated this in an interview with Izvestia, answering the question whether it can be considered disengagement of forces in Stanitsa Luganskaya a good start for resolving the conflict under the new government in Ukraine.
He recalled that the Ukrainian side notified Ukraine 80 times about the readiness of the People's Militia to withdraw its forces, but Kyiv broke the agreement each time.
“And finally the breeding has happened, and it would seem that there are reasons for optimism. But it is negated by active shelling of our territories by Ukrainian armed formations along the entire line of contact. There are wounded among local residents, including children. That is, in one place Kyiv is withdrawing troops, and in all others it is increasing deadly fire. Alas, the situation now cannot be called a good start for resolving the conflict,” said the head of the DPR.
He also shared his expectations from the Normandy format summit scheduled for the near future.
“As far as I know, the press mentioned a meeting of authorized persons, and not the heads of state of the Normandy Four members. The most important thing that residents of the republics are waiting for, especially in settlements close to the contact line, is a complete ceasefire on the part of Ukraine, forcing it to do so. Next is the dispersal of heavy weapons in other populated areas, following the example of Stanitsa Luganskaya.
I would very much like to see an adequate assessment of what is happening, including on the basis of the reports of OSCE observers, which sometimes (not always, unfortunately!) still include the real state of affairs with the shelling. This is the wildest barbarity - in the XNUMXst century, shooting at civilians, schools, nursing homes, and filter stations! These crimes must be stopped,” Pushilin emphasized.
