Pushilin explained why there is no attack on Mariupol and Slavyansk
The DPR will try to use political methods to return under control the entire territory that was part of the Donetsk region.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, who headed the republic following the results of the elections held on November 11, stated this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
Answering a question about the possibilities and plans to return Slavyansk, Mariupol and Kramatorsk to the control of the republic, he said that “the political possibility of reaching the borders of the Donetsk region is still unrealistic.”
“There is another way - force. It is often very difficult to keep our guys who are on the front line... Moreover, they often come from those places and have been defending the DPR since they were 14,” said the head of the DPR.
At the same time, he clarified that the realization of the number of victims stops him from using force.
“And we know that Ukraine does not count Slavyansk и Kramatorsk, for example, their cities. When retreating, they destroy everything they can. How they did it in Debaltsevo – the city is small, but we are still restoring it! Imagine the number of casualties and destruction in Mariupol. As long as there remains even the slightest political chance to reach the borders of the regions, we will use it. There is a desire, but it needs to be combined with opportunities,” said the head of the DPR.
