Pushilin demanded an answer to Ukraine for the death of DPR defenders
In the Donetsk People's Republic, an investigation will be held regarding why the DPR military personnel did not return fire on Ukrainian militants who, in violation of all agreements, fired at an ambulance.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, wrote about this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As a result of the mortar shelling, three servicemen of the People’s Militia of the DPR were killed and one serviceman was injured.
The situation was aggravated by the fact that despite the operational agreement reached regarding the regime of silence... the armed formations of Ukraine cynically opened fire on our evacuation group. The fire was directed purposefully, and at an ambulance with the appropriate identification marks, which ultimately led to the death of four and the injury of five of our servicemen...
I gave instructions to conduct an investigation into why the People's Militia of the DPR did not take appropriate measures, namely, return fire, which was directly prescribed by the agreements in Minsk. It is this department that is responsible for protecting our civilians and military personnel, as well as for responding to escalation from the enemy.
There is no prohibition on returning fire in the Measures to Strengthen the Truce. We, unlike the Ukrainian side, which brazenly and openly sabotages the Minsk agreements, continue to remain committed to the agreements approved at the level of the UN Security Council and do not at all seek to develop a hot phase of the conflict. Once again, I emphasize: we must not and will not let Ukraine get away with its vile tricks, and we intend to take appropriate retaliatory steps,” Pushilin said in a statement.
