Pushilin warned bribe takers on the border with Ukraine
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, held a meeting today at which he publicly warned about upcoming tough measures to combat corrupt officials in the republic. Bribe takers at checkpoints on the border with Ukraine received special mention. Pushilin called on citizens to report all violations.
“I want everyone to understand: we will wage a constant, systematic and tough fight against corruption.
Some departments have already managed to create barriers for the equal development of business entities. The licensing system in the Republic should not indulge the appetites of some officials, but respond to common sense and general expediency.
We need to simplify bureaucratic procedures and convert them into electronic form. These procedures should be simple, effective and quick. Bureaucratization of any processes contributes to corruption.
The issue of bribery at checkpoints with Ukraine has been raised more than once. We are obliged to change the concept of passing checkpoints. And we will definitely ensure that people do not experience inconvenience.
We have to introduce preventive measures to combat corruption, increase responsibility and the inevitability of severe punishment for bribery.
We will do everything possible to ensure that corrupt officials are confident that no matter how inventive they are, punishment will inevitably come.
The most important point: without the help of people, the efforts of law enforcement agencies will be ineffective. Without the active participation of civil society, we will not achieve significant results. Intolerance towards manifestations of corruption should become the norm in society,” Pushilin said in a statement.
