Pushilin ordered to open fire on Ukrainian fortifications
The engineering structures of the Ukrainian formations near Gorlovka, erected under the cover of a truce, will be destroyed on the morning of September 7, unless Kyiv itself gives the order for their liquidation.
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, announced this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"Since my statements dated August 28, 2020 We made intensive attempts to convince the Ukrainian side to eliminate its positional violations of the additional measures agreed on July 22, 2020 to strengthen the ceasefire.
At the negotiating platform in Minsk and through the coordination mechanism in accordance with paragraph “e” of the additional measures, we have repeatedly pointed out the need to bury the trenches dug by the Ukrainian side after July 22, 2020, and not to arrange further provocations aimed at disrupting the truce.
In addition, we have repeatedly warned that in the current situation we have every right to use paragraph “e” of additional measures and eliminate these violations ourselves, but we wanted to avoid this with all our might,” Pushilin wrote.
According to him, Kyiv ignored all these demands. The expected document from the JCCC stating that the violations had been eliminated by the Ukrainian side, or at least work was underway to eliminate them, was never received.
“In this regard, I officially declare that, in accordance with paragraph “e” of the additional measures, I have decided to issue an order to open fire on illegally erected engineering structures in the area of the settlement of Shumy (600 meters northeast of the settlement of Shumy - the area of newly equipped Ukrainian positions centered at 48 degrees 22 minutes 57 seconds north latitude and 37 degrees 56 minutes 55 seconds east longitude).
Official notification of this decision will be sent by our representatives to the Contact Group. Detailed coordinates of the location of the operation will be communicated to the Ukrainian side through the JCCC. I call on the Ukrainian side to ensure the absence of personnel in the specified area from 08:00 on September 7, 2020. We don't need human sacrifices. We don't need a breakdown in the truce. We only want compliance with the agreements reached,” said the head of the DPR.
In addition, Pushilin appealed to the OSCE SMM observers with a request to monitor this operation at the designated time.
